Product Description

A piece of luxury for your beard

Made of a solid pearwood with pure boar bristles. Uncompromising quality from one of the most trusted beard brush brands. Made in Germany by third generation master craftsmen of brush making.

The 4 Secrets of a Good Beard Brush

  1. Bristles are angled
  2. Bristles go to the edge
  3. Wood is oiled (not lacquered)
  4. Bristles are uneven length

A good beard brush has bristles at varying angles throughout the brush head

In order to properly brush a beard, the boar bristles need to be tufted differently on the sides of the beard brush compared to the center of the brush head. A true sign of a quality brush is that the tufting has been designed for beard care.

A cheap beard brush on the other hand has bristles at a plain 90 degree angle from one end of the beard brush to the other.

Quality beard brushes have bristles all the way to the end of the brush head

A sign of a quality beard brush is that the boar bristles have been tufted by quality craftsmen. The bristles have been inserted all the way to the end of the wood making for a full beard brush. Besides being a good brush making practice, it also assists you when you are brushing your beard in a mirror so you can see what you a brushing.

A cheap beard brush often has a large gap between the edge of the wood and the bristles and is easily spotted when zooming in on the photos.

Oiled beard brushes produce less static when brushing your beard

A secret to great beard brushes for men is that the wood is oiled, not lacquered. This is because lacquered brushes creates static when brushing your beard. An oiled beard brush with boar bristles makes a lot less static. But doing it this way means that we can't hide behind the lacquer and use low quality wood. It also means our brushes need extra sanding and care.

A quick look at a cheap beard brush and you'll notice that it is lacquered or painted. This makes it easier to use lower quality materials.

Boar bristles on quality beard brushes are cut unevenly

The purpose of a beard brush isn't just to straighten and shape one's beard. A beard brush is meant to reach the epidermis and exfoliate the skin. To penetrate through the beard and not just flatten it, the boar bristles need to be uneven. So in addition to the angled tufting mentioned in point one, this facilitates beard brushing and stimulates the skin.

One can spot a cheap beard brush by the cut of the bristles. Flat top bristles push down the beard and reduce the chances of properly exfoliating the skin.

1. Bristles tufted at an angle

2. Bristles all the way to the end

3. Wood is oiled (not lacquered)

4. Bristles are cut unevenly

Why brush your beard?

As your beard grows the skin below your beard produces oils (sebum) to help the hairs grow. But the skin also replaces itself and needs some help to get rid of any unwanted items. Brushing your beard daily isn't just about making it look nice, it is essential to exfoliate your skin beneath the beard.

  1. Brushing your beard may feel harsh at first, this is normal your skin might not be used to it. But by doing it daily you will learn to love it.
  2. As you brush your beard you will activate the oil production on your face which in turn will help soften your beard.
  3. Keep brushing at least once a day (but don't overdo it either) you will clean your skin and beard. Look at your brush to see how much you are cleaning.
  4. Brushing daily promotes better and more uniform beard growth.
  5. Brushing your beard while growing a beard helps avoid ingrown hairs.
  6. A good beard brush is the best way to overcome beard itch.

Made in Germany, by real artisans

Pearwood timber is checked and cut

The pearwood timber waits up to 8 weeks before being cut and then milled into brush handles. Each board checked for impurities or possible cracks.

Milled brush handles are sanded

Once milled the brush handles are sanded to remove any ridges and get the finish just right so they can then be oiled and laser etched.

Natural boar bristles are trimmed

The natural boar bristles are sorted into bundles based on thickness and length, they are then trimmed to get the right size for the brushes.

Tufted beard brushes are tested

Once the oiled and etched handles are ready they are tufted with the boar bristles. Each one then gets a quick "shave" to remove any bad bristles. After which they go for quality control.
